Praz-Delavallade is pleased to present a group exhibition entitled The Sound of Silence.
At a time where the proliferation of news media and social strife seems to be taking center stage, this exhibition gives space to quietude. Art has the capability of creating a bridge between minds because, contrary to language, a work of art represents the inseparable union of signified and signifier. There is, in the creative act, an inseparable duality in what the artist is aiming to convey in addition to the representation and the materials that serve their vision. Artists bestow value on a non-verbal form of communication open to plurality and ambivalence. This exhibition invites us to take in the paradoxical effectiveness of silence in art and stimulate a deeper awareness that leads to relinquishing words through which the art work attains its silent identity. Curated by Rene-Julien Praz.
The Sound of Silence is on view at 6150 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048 from 13 July to 7 September 2019, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. Complimentary parking is available in the lot adjacent to the gallery.
